Reading the above page is a sign that your computer is probably not infected with Conficker as the worm blocks access to most security web sites.

Conficker was first spotted sometime in November of Last Year and what I believe prompted Microsoft to release that emergency update which they almost never do. They try to stick to their regular monthly updates to include new virus definitions, but this conficker worm was so dangerous that they released it immedietly.

Conficker targets all users of Windows XP and Windows Vista.

I've been getting into a new habit lately. I've been searching for coupons on Google before I buy just about anything and today I happened to get a great deal. I needed to use the money transfer service Xoom to send some money and I said to myself - what the heck, let me see if there is a coupon code out there - and I did manage to find one in about 2.6 seconds.

This little coupon code saved me $25.00 and it really did only take me an extra 2 - 3 seconds to find it. I don't know about you, but I like $25.00.... I much rather it reside in my pocket than some merchant.

Since Google is updating the search results almost instantly nowadays, you can find a coupon code that was posted to the internet just a few minuets prior to your searching.

It's not like the old days where by the time you found the damn coupon it wouldn't be good anymore. Yea - those days are long over thanks to this wonderful thing called the net and Google.....

So do yourself a favor. Whatever you need to byy next, try taking an extra second or two in order to search Google for "your item" + coupon. You'll be glad you did.

I'm really note sure, but when I saw this generic keyword domain for sale in the aftermarket I figured I would just pick it up to be sure or until I figure it out or can plan a use for it. I mean, are people even using .cc that much? I personally never liked .cc much at all although a collegue of mine did manage to top the charts with one in the search engines a few years back.

TRICK TRACK VBULLETIN HACK / Palestinian Hacker

I find myself troubleshooting hacks a lot lately. If your vBulletin forum has been hacked here are some clues to what you can do.

The hackers are using a SQL injection to insert code into a template where the HTML you are seeing is hidden with encryption.

In my instance the template had no name in the database only identified by ID number 2041.

Database: templateid: 2041 (Your ID will likely be different)

YOU CAN NOT SEARCH FOR THE CODE IN YOUR DATABASE AS IT IS ENCRYPTED

The 'template' table is how your site builds the page components. The hackers inject a block of code into the 'spacer_open' element, causing their code to be displayed instead of the normal code.

To resolve this and bring the forums back up immediately, you need to remove their encrypted code or backup the table 'spacer_open'.

Two out of three of my forums were hit with this hack. The two that were hit both have the version numbers listed in the footer of the forum. I recommend removing the version numbers from the footer and keeping your vBulletin up-to-date.

My versions: vBulletin 3.7.2 Patch Level 1
Latest version available: 3.7.3 Patch Level 1

UPDATE: This happened to me a second time now with VBulletin updated so I do not think it is a plugin or VB not being up-to-date. I think it is a hole in VB but I will post more information as it becomes available.

Long Island's history is largely inspired by science, art and culture. Home to sites of Revolutionary War battles, the history of America runs deep within the veins of Long Island. There are many museums scattered throughout all four counties, all dedicated to the rich history that lies here.

The Long Island Film Festival begins in September and travels throughout Long Island featuring independant film screenings. The Harvest Festival Hayride Hoedown runs through October and is held at the Palmer Vineyards. A spectacular place to relax and taste the wines of the season. Then there is Pumpkin Festivals, Craft Fairs and County Fairs that round out the Fall season. There is plenty to do and see here on Long Island.

Tax Payers Against a Wall Street and Mortgage Bailout

To: President Bush, Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Christopher Dodd, Senator Charles Schumer and members of Congress
Please do not support the efforts to bail out mortgage holders and mortgage lenders with my tax dollars. As a responsible citizen, I do not believe it is right for you to ask me to pay for other peoples’ financial excesses, especially since a bailout encourages lenders to continue making predatory loans, with the assumption that taxpayers are on the hook. Further, we believe that the liability of the mortgage mess should NOT be shifted to GSE’s Freddie and Fannie.

I appreciate the goal of helping people to have access to housing, but any proposed bailout will only reward lenders and borrowers who acted irresponsibly, and it will punish people who work hard and diligently manage their finances by not buying houses which they cannot afford.

The housing market has begun a process of correction. This is necessary in order to keep housing affordable in the long-term. Let the market correct so we can achieve stability again, and people are able to save and afford the house of their dreams over time. That really is the true American Dream.
